Sowflakes is a pork seasoning used on anything from ribs to ham. Great for dry smoking, grilling, baking, electric smoke and whatever other cooking techniques are out there. Ribs are our weakness and with this rib seasoning, it’s where most of our tests happened. However, Sowflakes performs well on all cuts of pork especially if you can get in an overnight dry marinade with it. The sugar and honey granules combined perfectly will make an outstanding crust/bark you might not even pull out the BBQ sauce.
Our pork dry rub is made when you order. We aim to get you the freshest experience available from fresh ground spices. In addition, all the pork seasonings not paired are kept in vacuum sealed containers.
If cooking over or in a pan, Sowflakes pork seasoning and the pork fat drippings render its own sweet and spicy BBQ juice. You can use the drippings to make your own BBQ sauce to match the meat’s flavor. Add some water and vinegar on simmer until desired thickness. Turn it up one more notch by adding tomato paste or grind your own fresh.
Another trend we’ve seen is sprinkling Sowflakes over bacon then baking. We tried the “candied bacon” and it good enough to cause meat sweats. Note that Sowflakes is sweet and there are recipes you/I wouldn’t want to use it on like lasagna.
